SEO for Landscaping Company. I was in charge of running and implementing best practices for this newer landscaping company that was trying to branch out from just local business.
WHAT YOU DID
I modified the architecture of the website so it would be more user-friendly, easier to index by Google and promoted the main services more. My strategy was to slowly build up their local SEO presence and first focus on what was working and maximize that, while minimizing the waste. Since it was such a seasonal business, I made sure to separate out the winter services vs. the summer services. I also added a “service area” to the site, to make sure the outside areas where they would serve, were being displayed. Getting the locations added to the website attracted more than just the local clients. One other thing I did, was to add a contact form onto to the side of the page so people had more than 1 option to contact the business in case they did not want to call.
Our in-house web marketing console pulled in multiple reports from tools/programs such as SEO profiler, Google Analytics, Google Adwords, and the Search Console. I used the data from these reports to analyze results, make future decisions and see how our implementations were taking effect on the current account. I liked to compare date ranges to see if there were any patterns when it came to overall performance.
It was hard to get a hold of the client when I needed approval to move forward with certain changes. The timeline got pushed back because of the lack of communication on the client’s’ side so this affected the timeline of the rest of my projects. I was able to get the clients’ cell phone number so we finally got in direct contact and I walked them through everything so everyone was on the same page. Everything went smooth after that.
After we implemented all of our ideas, the site performed much better. The site loaded faster and the images were clearer and more descriptive, not just generic stock photos. Site visits increased from outside areas and people were not bouncing off as much. The contact form helped increase leads by 25%.
INSIGHTSAlways give people more than 1 option to contact you. Click To Tweet
When the site was first built out, it should have been correct the first time with all the implementations already completed. My advice would be: to always give people more than 1 option to contact you. Example, have a form and phone number or live chat and a form. Some people nowadays do not like to call so filling out a form might be preferable to them.
