Rob and Scott’s years of experience in the SEO industry have largely contributed to stepping up and improving their techniques over time, and these have ultimately led them to impactful results – high ranking and great domain authority in an impressive amount of time. They both showed emphasis on providing good content, something all SEO professionals should never ignore. But what else should we keep in check?
Scott Nailon has been into the web industry for 10 years. After creating his first web design agency, he continued on to create his own SEO Agency after that. Scott loves what he does and enjoys the lifestyle only few could hope for. He gets to spend time with his family, is paid very well and doesn’t ever work full time hours.
Meanwhile, Rob Press has worked in the Search industry for 8 years across the UK and Australia managing a wide range of high profile clients across a variety of markets.
Rob: Supplements retailer in Australia.
Scott: Managed SEO, a new SEO Agency created on July 1st on a fresh domain name with fresh content and no domain authority to start with.
WHAT YOU DID
Rob: The strategy heavily relied on content, internal linking & creative link building.
Scott: I created a plan for me SEO, lots of quality content, a few blogs and continued to blog on the site a few times per month whilst creating backlinks on high authority blogging sites.
Rob: SEMrush, ahrefs, Stat, Lucky Orange, Optimizely
Scott: Keyword Finder, SEMRush, Google Sheets.
Rob: All category pages were dynamic and as such, had zero organic visibility.
Scott: Writing content regularly is the hardest thing, it can get repetitive so you need to keep it fresh. Getting Guest Posts published is hard also, finding the right suppliers of backlinking is key.
Static pages were created and after six months, aided by internal and external links, plus copy on the landing pages, many of these ranked in the top 3 positions on Google AU. We even managed to rank in first place for “Protein Powder” – a huge revenue driver for the business.
I moved from a domain authority 1 to a 39 in 3 months. I also started ranking toward the bottom of page 1 for some difficult and competitive keywords.
This project was a success as we sold the client on a multi channel strategy, as we were controlling development, we were able to implement SEO recommendations more or less immediately which was why this project was a success. Too often, clients will sign off on a large retainer for SEO services but not implement recommendations.
Ensure your backlinking is quality, ensure your content is 1000 words or more and make sure you are not ‘the cheap guy’ otherwise you will end up with some pretty low paying clients.
