I love how Sonja is able to make the most of her creativity in order to build an initiative bigger than being a Virtual Assistant. As we know, content is a truly powerful medium that is able to drive any business to success – and Sonja is doing that perfectly well.
Sonja Balzarolo is a Creativity Coach, Virtual Assistant and Content Specialist. She helps creatives and women in business find their ‘Uniquely You’ identity, tap into their creativity and bring their content to life. Sonja is a passionate creative and champion for creativity in business and life, and in 2017 founded a group for creative mums in business called Creative Soul Mamas. She also loves to write on the subjects of creativity, content, business and motherhood, as a contributing writer on various websites, through her social media and on her blog.
What are your core skill sets and services? Can you also name a few that are outside your scope?
My focus is on content creation, copywriting and social media. I currently don’t offer online marketing as part of my service but will be expanding into that in 2018.
What is a typical day like for you?
Plenty of social media for both my business and clients. Content creation, graphics creation and usually writing in some shape or form. Lots of reading, keeping up to date with trends and skills, and some study on most days.
I understand that you were training people in management and business operations before. How have you used your coaching and training skills online?
Understanding people, and the different styles of learning and taking in information are great skills for content creation and writing in any form. Working with different types of people, businesses and industries has also been extremely helpful in working in the online space. The additional skills of flexibility, adaptability and curiosity help when things change rapidly in the online space to keep up with the constant evolution.
How does being creative make one’s brand and business thrive?
Creativity provides valuable resources in terms of content and ideas, it allows innovation through curiosity, imagination and problem solving, and it lets what I call the ‘Uniquely You’ identity of a business shine through. No matter whether you are, a car dealership or an artist selling your work online, your brand and business is unique. Letting people know what makes your brand and business unique through your creativity, your content and your story lets you stand out from the crowd. When it comes to a brand or business with a team of staff, you can move into a whole new level of harnessing creativity, from your culture right through to what products and services you offer as markets change and evolve. But this really is just the tip of the iceberg, I could talk for days on creativity in business.
I see that you run a local Gold Coast meetup. Tell us more about Creative Soul Mamas.
Creative Soul Mamas was born from my need to meet other creative mums in business. Working virtually obviously means I rarely see others, and although I could attend traditional business networking events, and sometimes do, I was really searching for a creative group of Mums in business. And there wasn’t one here, so I started one! It has expanded through and now also includes an online Facebook group of the same name, which is slowly expanding and has members from around Australia and overseas.
What are the most common things that your clients need help with, things that you try to develop with their service or business?
Social Media is the largest area of my business by far, and using this to reach out to clients and get appointments for local businesses is a growing area for me. LinkedIn is a particular growth area I have been working with clients on, both to build a better profile, and to help them connect and then reach out to potential clients.
What is your philosophy behind business, creativity, and being a coach?Let your creative soul blossom Click To Tweet
I use the term Let your Creative Soul Blossom often, as this to me means helping business owners, and most commonly women and Mums in business, find their ‘Uniquely You’ identity, tap into their creative ideas or the soul of their business if you like, and let their ideas blossom by bringing them to life through content creation. As my focus and passion is content creation and creativity, whether I am coaching or working as a Virtual Assistant/Content Specialist, I am focused on the philosophy of ‘Let your creative soul blossom’. It underpins everything I do is one way or another.
