Audrey DeSisto touches on so many important aspects of what Founders need to consider – building partnerships, giving back and managing your online reputation. Working in the digital transformation space, Audrey has an engaging and collaborative approach. I love the emphasis on building strategic alliances where all partner’s initiatives are supported – a key thing many overlook as they start their enterprise!
As Founder and CEO of Digital Marketing Stream, Audrey DeSisto offers her clients years of experience in marketing, sales, product development, advertising, finance and software group organizations. She has worked with corporations, as well as midsize and small businesses. She brings to the table an extensive network and expertise in both digital marketing and social media management. Her experience allows her to develop an intuitive sense of a company’s culture and how to attain transformative results.
Why did you start your initiative?
My experience in technology, marketing and consulting led me to my decision to want to assist small businesses with digital transformation. My passion for photography and writing has helped brand me personally, and now allows my company to do the same for small businesses.
How long have you been running your initiative and what have been the biggest challenges you have faced? How did you overcome them?
My company was originally founded and structured as a global strategic alliance which included global technology, digital marketing, internet security and legal support partnerships. The biggest challenge was getting the partners onboard to support one another’s initiatives, a typical issue that many strategic alliances face. I then rebranded as a digital marketing company almost two years ago. My experience in technology, marketing, sales, photography and writing positioned my company perfectly to compete in the digital marketing space.
Knowing that the competition is tough within the digital marketing space, how do you manage your team in order to stand out?
My company model is white label marketing. Using this model allows my company to fill in any service delivery gaps. The plan is to keep startup costs low as the company scales up. This model allows my company to say yes to all service requests, and allows me to stay up to date with technology and industry trends.
As a digital marketing expert, what key principles do you live by and how does it impact your current career?
The key principles that I live by are being exceptional at engagement with your fans and followers, and to give back. If you are a one way street online, you will hit a roadblock. I have never understood the concept of having a big social media follow, and not following your fans back. You have to get to know your fans, and in order to do so, stay engaged the best way you can. For me, I compare this to a retail store understanding who their customers are. You can track analytics, sure, but you cannot get feedback and emotion from numbers.
How do you foster creative and innovative thinking within your organization? How are ideas shared and implemented within your teams?
Because my company uses a white label marketing approach, strategies and ideas are discussed with other CEO white label partners. This allows us to keep our arms around the pulse of digital transformation, and the forever changing technologies and digital tools. We keep overhead low, and knowledge base high.
What advice would you have for anyone struggling with their company’s online presence?
It is important to manage your online reputation, we offer reputation management as a service. Setting up a Google alert using your company name is useful. My advice is to spend as much time as you can staying engaged with fans and followers, earning trust and respect is key when building an online presence.
